The final document of the first phase of the diocesan synod has been released.

From Friday, October 25 to Monday, October 28, the first historic gathering of the diocesan synod of the Plzeň Diocese took place in Johannisthal, attended by a hundred delegates from various corners of the diocese.

The basis for discussion and proposals from the delegates was a working document summarizing opinions and thoughts from the first phase of the synodal process, during which the diocese examined its current situation and described the reality. Based on this material, the delegates worked in groups and brought forward their proposals for amendments and additions. The result of this collaborative work was a total of 91 amendments, which were subsequently voted on during the plenary session. Each proposal that received a two-thirds majority was included in the final document.

The final document was approved by the delegates on Monday, the last day of the gathering. It concluded with a festive mass, during which the bishop of Plzeň officially accepted the document as his own, symbolically handed it to representatives of the diocese, ordered its publication, and encouraged everyone to take it as inspiration for their reflections in the subsequent stages of the diocesan synod.

The synodal gathering in Johannisthal is a significant milestone for the Plzeň Diocese. The document adopted here brings hope for a more open church community that will be closer to the needs of all people and open to further changes for the future.
